Insuring your shiny new Suzuki can be frustrating. You may know that most states require you to have liability insurance coverage, but what does that mean? Will your Suzuki be covered? Liability insurance is used when your Suzuki is involved in an accident that is your fault, and is the most basic type of auto insurance. As mentioned, liability coverage is mandatory in almost every state. You can purchase liability insurance in different amounts, each covering a different area: bodily injury for one person, bodily injury for multiple persons, and property damage.
In some states, you will also need to purchase insurance for your personal injury if you and your Suzuki are involved in an accident. Personal Injury Protection, or PIP, pays for your medical costs, lost wages, and other associated costs. While not required in every area, PIP is a wise choice. Also available is collision insurance. Collision insurance will cover your Suzuki should you unintentionally collide with an object. Comprehensive coverage is, as the name implies, coverage for your Suzuki in case of such occurrences as fire, theft, earthquake, and other damage. While not usually required, collision and comprehensive coverage are recommended if you care about protecting the investment on your new Suzuki.
